Zal may ...    19 May 2009

... become the Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan! 'Zal' is Zalmay Khalilzad, an American citizen, born in Afghanistan and the highest ranked Muslim in George Bush's White House. He got his start in 1984 when he assisted Paul Wolfowitz in the State Department.

He later worked for George Armacost (the designated survivor for George Bush Senior in 1989) when he promoted the formation of the Mujahideen to fight against the Soviet occupation. The Mujahideen of course formed the backbone of that most useful CIA asset: al Quaeda. 'W' appointed him US Ambassador to the UN, and before that he had been US Ambassador both Afghanistan and Iraq.

The news today is that he is negotiating with Harmid Karzai, the present President of Afghanistan, to become the CEO of that country! What an extra-ordinary notion.

So much for taking democracy to underdeveloped countries! What we have instead is the explicit rebranding of jobs to facilitate the notion that people and society exist to serve corporate purposes.
